Company Background
Greenpeace is a global environmental charity that campaigns to tackle issues to protect the environment and promote peace on a global scale.
Their UK Head Office spans across 4 floors and is situated in the London Borough of Islington.
Issues
Greenpeace UK were facing challenges with effective segregation of their waste and recycling materials within their UK Head Office. Their current bins were uninspiring and lacked any creativity. With their strong commitment to the environment, it’s imperative that their waste materials are effectively separated at source to ensure the waste arrives at the appropriate facilities for successful recycling. It is extremely important for Greenpeace to be working with trustworthy suppliers that minimise their negative impact on the environment and provide a quality service, which Christopher Ali, Greenpeace UK’s Facilities Manager, admits is “almost impossible to find in sustainable procurement”.
Solution
co-cre8 contacted Greenpeace UK and presented a solution to the current issues they faced. Greenpeace were initially attracted to the rBIN due to its British made status, use of sustainable materials, its ability to be fully branded to spec and the variety of options that they could choose from to customise the unit to their own specific needs.
The strong sustainable credentials behind the rBIN, including the use of 70% UK sourced recycled materials and a quality made product that is built to last, also supports Greenpeace’s own sustainable initiatives.
Greenpeace implemented 4 mobile rBIN units into their Head Office space, including 1 x 3 stream unit and 3 x 2 stream units. co-cre8 worked with Greenpeace on bespoke designs that aligned with their brand guidelines and provided clear signage for each of their waste streams for effective segregation.
Greenpeace UK’s Facilities Manager, Christopher Ali said “These bins are beautiful and built to last. The cost is the cost but it is a small investment for a greater long-term picture.”.
Results
The feedback throughout the ordering process and once receiving the units has been very positive. Greenpeace advised that since implementing the units, they have had multiple compliments on them and staff are more engaged with the recycling system, no longer leaving items around the bins as they did before.
“These bins are beautiful and built to last. Any organisation who has sustainability within their core values absolutely need to consider these products as these are the real deal, no greenwashing here. The cost is the cost but it is a small investment for a greater long-term picture.
Working with co-cre8 has been a pleasure and enlightening, they know their stuff and believe in it while actually make an outstanding product which is almost impossible to find in sustainable procurement as Facilities Manager. Georgia was excellent throughout our purchase.”
